LiNEGUARD’s watchword: more environmentally-friendly products. But in concrete terms, what actions are taken?

A commitment from the outset: making innovation rhyme with eco-design

Deeply committed to environmental issues, LiNEGUARD products are designed to be innovative while minimizing their impact on the environment. To achieve this, LiNEGUARD takes a number of concrete actions, such as surrounding itself with local partners, reducing the number of molds and materials used, and cutting the energy consumption of its products as far as possible. From product design to the end of its life cycle, LiNEGUARD aims to offer more environmentally-friendly solutions.

Commitment #1 – Buy more responsibly

LiNEGUARD purchases are sourced from local partners whenever possible. In addition to electronic components, plastic components, sheet metal and packaging are carefully selected from local partners.

Commitment #2 – Use consumables wisely

Packaging components represent a significant volume of waste. For this reason, LiNEGUARD makes a point of reusing cushioning products from its suppliers or returning them in such a way as to reuse several tons of cardboard.

Commitment #3 – Standardize parts

Choosing to standardize parts among the various LiNEGUARD references considerably reduces the amount of tooling required. In this case, only 4 molds – considering the 33 parts that make up the readers – are used to produce the LiNEGUARD references.

This approach also enables us to limit the amount of steel consumed by limiting the number of cavity holders, as well as producing parts by bi-injection and overmolding.

Commitment #4 – Choose materials conscientiously

Aware that the materials we select have a real impact on the environment, LiNEGUARD prefers to choose easily recyclable materials rather than recycled ones, which cannot always be recovered at the end of a product’s life. For example, in plastics processing, the materials used are carefully selected for both their robustness and aesthetic properties, so as to reduce the number of moldings required. LiNEGUARD prefers ABSPC for the injection molding of its casings, both for its strength and aesthetic qualities, thus avoiding the use of lexan. ABSPC is a recyclable material.

Commitment #5 – Capitalize on new technologies

The design of the entire range of readers is geared towards reducing their environmental impact. Thanks to software design and digital simulation tools, LiNEGUARD products are rigorously designed to :

  • Achieve targeted strength performance without adding material, by distributing volumes and surfaces,
  • Optimize the weight of parts and volumes to reduce material consumption to just what is needed.

Commitment #6 – Limit energy consumption

Aware that electronic products are energy-hungry, LiNEGUARD readers feature a sleep mode in case of inactivity, and the default intensity of their LED signature is reduced, without compromising aesthetics.

Commitment #7 – Define a long-term product life cycle

In line with the sustainability principles of ISO 14021, LiNEGUARD promotes the repairability of its products. All readers are designed to be easily dismantled, facilitating servicing and extending their service life thanks to a “Plug & Play” architecture.

Commitment #8 – Reduce the volume of electronic waste

LiNEGUARD’s objective: to reduce the volume of electronic waste, extend the life of readers and enable its customers to make long-term savings, while contributing to a more sustainable business model.

Commitment #9 – Opposing planned obsolescence

LiNEGUARD is committed to supporting its customers throughout the product life cycle, and is firmly opposed to any philosophy of premature obsolescence. This commitment ensures long-lasting, high-performance products, regardless of their length of service.
